Whatever your circumstances, we have gathered all the information you need in one place, sourced from local fully qualified Driving Instructors (ADI), Driving Standards Agency documents, search engines and maps, so that you can find the best Test Centre for you or be fully prepared for the one you're going to!
As most will know, to get your full driving licence you will have to pass two driving tests, first the theory and then the practical. There are different centres for the two types of test and this site is concerned with practical test centres. So that you know what you're letting yourself in for, go to The Driving Tests for a description of each type of test.
You can also keep up to date with the recent changes to the practical test, such as using a 'sat nav' and new manoeuvres in 'Sat nav, etc.'
But before you worry about Tests, it's as well to learn to drive! To do that you will need an instructor and, whether you need general guidance for mum, dad, your mate or partner, or how to choose a professional, please go to 'your instructor'.
Nationally, around half of all those who take the Practical Test will fail, many of whom do so simply because they are unprepared. Naturally, we would always recommend the advice of a fully qualified instructor, but if your circumstances don't permit, we offer some practical advise in 'are you ready' that could help you avoid a possibly serious and certainly expensive mistake.
You'll find that each Test Centre on this site has it's own Test Route pages. They include up to three of our unique 'interactive' routes with fully worded directions and distances between junctions, an archive section where you can find all those routes previously published by the Driving Standards Agency, and the 'briefings' and wordings used by examiners.
To access these pages, find your Driving Test Centre and enter the first part of your post code in the appropriate section, or, for more information go to Test Routes.
And when you are ready to take the plunge, you'll find guidance and all the contact details you need in 'booking your tests'.
This site is mainly for learner drivers planning to take their car test in England, Scotland or Wales. However, it might still help where other types of test, such as motorcycle or ADI, are also available, although test routes for these categories may differ significantly.
And to all of you who are taking their Practical Driving Test, whether tomorrow, next week, next year or beyond, we hope we have been of some assistance and wish you the very best of luck!
